Objectives

On completion of this module, students should be able to: recognise the key steps in devising an innovative enterprise; understand the basic commercial processes involved; and display competencies in the initiation of such operations.

Syllabus

This is oriented to planning and setting-up innovative commercial activity. It is supported by academic staff and experienced business practitioners, especially from successful new start-up, small- and medium-sized enterprises. Students will work in groups to review potential near market developments in their own or other subject areas. The opportunities and difficulties in technical and commercial terms, including the knowledge and personal skills requiring enhancement, will be evaluated in depth. Each group will create and present a viable business plan before a panel of venture capital providers and other business practitioners.
